The aim of the Project is to elaborate and popularise Gottlieb’s legacy contained in the family collection and archived as Part I of this Project. This material contains previously unknown important information about the life and work of the artist, a founding member of the Paris art colony.

The project will also involve the preservation of works on paper and documents that constitute the legacy of Leopold Gottlieb, as well as preventive conservation of selected objects in accordance with the conservation assessment.

Also comprised in the project is the elaboration of the notebooks dating from the 1930s and 40s, kept by the artist’s wife Aurelia Gottlieb, an art historian with a PhD in philosophy which she obtained from the University of Vienna; the notebooks provide descriptions and interpretations of her husband’s works.

Co-funding for this project was provided by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund – a state special-purpose fund, in accordance with Agreement no. 103235/25/FPK/POLONIKA.
