Dominika Kraska

Foundation volunteer. First-year MA student at the College of Interdisciplinary Individual Studies in the Humanities (MISH) at the University of Warsaw. She is also pursuing studies at the Faculty of Polish Studies and at the Institute of Romance Studies at the same university, where she graduated with a dual BA degree in 2025

Her academic interests focus on Polish–French literary relations and intralingual translation of early literary works. Her current research explores the French reception of Jan Kochanowski, including in Polish émigré and diaspora contexts. She seeks to apply her academic interests in practice. For this reason, as part of her internship with Art & Modern Foundation, she transcribed letters by Leopold Gottlieb, a painter associated with the École de Paris, translated archival family correspondence from French into Polish, prepared materials for publication in the artist’s digital archive, and supported the project manager in ongoing activities.

Art Modern Foundation

At the centre of foundation interest are modernist artists active between 1900 and 1970, in particular artists from the circle of the Ecole de Paris: Elie Nadelman, Mela Muter, Leopold Gottlieb, Józef Hecht, Henryk Hayden, Louis Marcoussis, Henryk Berlewi, Jankiel Adler, Hel Enri.

Many of them were born and educated in Warsaw's intellectual environment. They were outstanding figures whose works received critical acclaim in Paris while being often overlooked in their homeland for historical and political reasons.
